Meet the Team: Caitlin Jones

Tell us a little about you:

I’m a farmer’s daughter from Anglesey, and I’ve been surrounded by animals and muddy boots since before I could walk. Growing up on the farm sparked a lifelong passion for agriculture, and I’m fascinated by how the industry is evolving and adapting to new challenges.

Outside of work, I’m a big believer in staying active, whether it’s Crossfit, running, hiking up mountains, or chasing after my Labrador on the beach. I’m a total outdoor enthusiast and happiest when I’m on the move.

I’m also a proud social butterfly who loves spending time with family and friends – and yes, I still love getting stuck in and helping out on the farm whenever I can.

Where did your career start, and how did it evolve to where you are now?

I began my career on a busy dairy farm while exploring my career path. What started as a temporary role quickly grew into a genuine passion, and I progressed to a herd and young stock manager on a 380-cow spring calving farm.

After several years on the farm, I decided to transition from the milking parlour into the world of agricultural sales. I started at Wynnstay as a sales representative before moving into a specialist role focusing on calves and youngstock.

I then joined Carrs Billington, supporting farmers across North Wales by helping them identify the best business solutions.

Today, I’ve swapped my wellies for the office and now work as a recruitment consultant, where I connect talented individuals with exciting opportunities across the agricultural sector.

What do you enjoy about recruitment?

Recruitment wasn’t a path I originally envisioned for myself, but it has become one of the most rewarding aspects of my career to date. I genuinely enjoy connecting with people – hearing about their experiences, goals and ambitions is always inspiring. Being part of their journey as they explore new opportunities is a privilege I don’t take for granted.

There’s also nothing quite like the excitement of finding the perfect match –  when both the candidate and the company benefit is incredibly fulfilling. Knowing that I’ve helped facilitate a connection that could genuinely make a difference is what makes this role so meaningful.

What do you enjoy about working in the animal-related industries?

Coming from a background in agricultural sales, it’s incredibly rewarding to remain connected to the industry—now from a different perspective. I genuinely enjoy helping people discover career opportunities they’re passionate about, including roles I hadn’t even known existed.

What excites me the most is the vast potential within the agricultural and animal-related industries. Regardless of someone’s background or career stage, there’s a place for everyone to grow and thrive.

It’s also an absolute pleasure to connect with individuals with similar interests. I love hearing about their journeys, learning from their experiences and discovering how paths sometimes intersect.

What do you look for in a candidate?

For me, passion is one of the most essential qualities in a candidate. Regardless of their degree or experience, genuine enthusiasm can speak volumes about how hard someone is willing to work and the value they can bring to a role.

I also appreciate candidates who think outside the box. While it’s common to tailor answers to align with a job description, it’s truly refreshing to see someone who brings their authentic self to the process – offering original perspectives and putting their own spin on things. It shows confidence, creativity and a real understanding of their unique strengths.

What is the one thing you think every CV should have?

I believe every CV should begin with a brief, impactful introduction. A concise summary at the top allows recruiters and hiring managers to assess your suitability for a role quickly. It should highlight key Industries you’ve worked in, your core strengths, and what you’re looking for as your next career move—ideally incorporating relevant keywords to catch the right attention.

What is your top career advice?

My top career advice would be: ‘Don’t be afraid to show who you are’.

While skills can be taught, it’s your genuine drive, character, and individuality that truly set you apart from others. The right opportunity will not only align with your experience but also reflect your values, energy, and potential.

If a role excites you but doesn’t perfectly match your experience, don’t let that hold you back. You’d be surprised how often personality, attitude and cultural fit play a defining role in landing the right job and finding the right candidate.
