Meet the Team: Jane Williams

Tell us a little about you

I live in rural Worcestershire with my husband and teenage kids. We have a busy and
sometimes chaotic household, so when I get the chance to switch off, I like nothing more
than getting outdoors and going for a long hike up the hills with the dogs.

Where did your career start and how did it evolve to where you are now?

I loved my first job at the local livestock market, cooking breakfasts for farmers and
managing the office paperwork. It was a brilliantly social role where I made lifelong friends
in the farming community. Eventually, those friends became my customers, and to this day,
we still grab a coffee and catch up on market days.


After college, I was eager to start a commercial career. I drove to my local agricultural
supplies store and asked if they needed a rep. They politely declined, but a visiting supplier
overheard my pitch and offered me a commission only job selling vet wrap and syringes.
Despite the risk of a lean paycheck, I took the gamble. I hunted down every vet practice and
agricultural merchant I could find, quickly building a strong buyer network. This helped me
get my foot in the door for my next two roles: first in the feed department for Countrywide
Farmers, and then in a Regional Animal Health position with Wynnstay.


When I wasn’t out on farms selling, I was in military uniform serving as a Combat Medic in
the Army Reserves—an experience that taught me incredible skills and took me around the
world. I eventually left Wynnstay for a deployment to Uganda, returning to take on a
full-time reservist role focused on army recruitment. That was the spark that started my
recruitment journey nine years ago!

What do you enjoy about recruitment?


Being consultative, knowledge is power in recruitment and I’m a big believer that a process
is more likely to be successful if you get all the information you need right from the start.
That involves truly understanding a business, knowing the culture, the team and the
direction they are heading in. Working in partnership with the client to find the best
candidates and build their teams is one of the best parts of the job.

What do you enjoy about working in the agricultural and animal-related industries?

Raised on a busy livery yard and farm, I developed an early passion for livestock and equine
management. This interest deepened into a technical focus on dairy and beef production
when I earned my AMTRA qualification and completed the CowSignals training while
working with Wynnstay. I became fascinated by the science behind livestock health,
genetics, and nutrition—specifically how these factors drive global sustainability.

Today, the agricultural sector faces critical challenges, from climate change and a growing population
to antimicrobial resistance. Partnering with clients who deliver innovative products and
solutions to overcome these global hurdles is incredibly rewarding.

What do you look for in a candidate?


I like to discover what I can’t read on the CV: personality, motivations, and ambition.
It’s important to know the ‘why’ behind the candidate. I look for people who are
authentic, eager to learn, and highly collaborative. Technical boxes can be ticked on
paper, but long-term success comes down to how a person connects with a team
and aligns with a company’s values.

What is the one thing you think every CV should have?


Every CV needs a genuine human voice. Right now, the market is flooded with CVs
that read like they were entirely written by an AI. They’re full of sterile, fancy
corporate jargon, but they completely miss the person behind the paper. I want the
professional summary to tell me what keywords can’t: what truly drives you and
what you are passionate about. If your CV sounds like a real conversation rather
than a generic template, you will stand out instantly.

What is your top career advice?


Life is too short to spend 40 hours a week in a role that makes you miserable. If
you’re unhappy, speak up, give your employer a chance to fix it. If nothing changes,
find a better fit for you with an employer that knows your worth.
